There was no mention of this in the Release Notes, but only of some fix to AppleMusic abending without warning (which I’ve also seen happen). I tried that and it works, so thank you LonnieFoodikov, but I don’t understand what witchcraft this is because it has apparently also stopped the problem recurring when I reconnected my (better quality) headphones with a three ring 3.5mm plug to the iPad Pro*.Ī few days after I stopped the clicking using the headphones without microphone fix, I upgraded to IOS14.7 and have not seen any recurrence (will add here if I do). One writer on here with the rather splendid identity LonnieFoodikov suggested it the Apple USB adapter was a headphone only device and didn’t know what to do about the microphone signal on three ring 3.5mm audio jacks and then suggested using a two-ringed headphone only cable into the adapter because that had worked for them. Unplugging and replugging the usb would fix it for a few minutes. The usb audio adapter (accessory audio) connections would start clicking every few seconds like a scratched cd. Ipad pro usb-c clicking audio with 14.5 and 14.6 Has anyone seen this yet with 14.7? Thanks for your attention- I appreciate it. Since system sounds are still coming through I suspect the dongle is okay, but unfortunately my iPad is the only device in the house that uses USBC so I can't check it with another device. The headphones do work when plugged into other things they're fine, but I did check with two other sets of headphones (an older gaming headset and some Apple wired headphones). Plugging in a different set of 3.5mm headphones Bluetooth headphones do work (for reasons of delay, using bluetooth headphones all the time is not an option).Things I've tried:Ĭleaning the 3.5 mm headphone jack and plug The little blue indicator does come on when I plug the dongle in, and I can hear a pop in the headphones when plugged and unplugged (it is distinctly the 'headphones engaged' sound, not the 'I bopped the wire' sound). Weirdly, system sounds still come through just fine, but music, GarageBand and other app sounds do not. This used to work just fine but sound just suddenly stopped coming through the headphones while I was playing with GarageBand. Same result.IPad system sounds come through headphones but not music or app sounds Kind of a weird problem: I'm using OneOdio wired headphones plugged into a power through USB C 3.5mm headphone jack dongle (maker is s'touch). I went back to Best Buy and tested a brand new one. Keep in mind this only happens with the headphone jack to lightning adapter. His Samsung earbuds also create the same popping/cracking noise. Not to mention it doesn't work with my brother's either. However, the adapter works just fine with my sister's earphones or my old Skull Candy ones. I even plugged the headphone jack adapter with my earbuds attatched into my iPad Mini 4's lightning port. Causes the music to flucate in volume or even go silent and skip areas. Can't even listen to music on these earphones because of this. When I plug my Beats Earbuds into the adapter then into the lightning port it causes the audio to pop and crack pretty bad. It's what the adapter is doing to the audio that's causing the problem. I prefer my old ones over the free EarPods, but I can't use them. It all works great except for my previous earphones. So I just got a brand new iPhone 7 last Tuesday.
